- Brush your teeth for 2 minutes, twice a day. Many of the latest electric toothbrushes have an audible cue to help you to know how long you have been brushing
- Use dental floss or interdental brushes daily. This ensures that the gaps between your teeth are kept nice and clear, a job which floss does more effectively than a toothbrush
- Chew sugar free gum with 'xylitol' after meals
- Change your toothbrush or toothbrush head every 3 months. Flattened bristles will not clean your teeth effectively
- Use a fluoride toothpaste
- Spit after cleaning rather then rinsing with water. This allows the fluoride in the toothpaste to carry on doing it's job
- Use a fluoride mouthwash at a separate time to brushing your teeth
- Have regular dental check-ups & have your teeth cleaned professionally at the interval recommended by the dentist
